In Spring 2025, I set out to accomplish one of my biggest goals—writing and illustrating my own book. To bring Mulholland and his story to life, I immersed myself in research: reading countless history books, digging through the Los Angeles Archives for authentic documents, and even tracking down exact news articles from specific dates. I visited the Million Dollar Theater to capture an accurate reference of the building’s exterior, once home to Mulholland’s office during his time as superintendent of the LA Water Department. It was a challenging journey, but an incredibly rewarding one. I had so much fun writing this story, and I hope you enjoy reading it just as much!
